What do you think is the biggest need self-publishers have to achieve the dreams and goals they have for their book publishing plans?

Would you say it’s money, or a good editor, or a proven way to “beat” the Amazon ranking system?

I wouldn’t say it was any of those, but that’s me.

It seems to me that what you really need when you get started in self-publishing is education. Not information, not data, polls, articles although they are all useful and vital in their place.

But they all go into your education as a publisher.

It’s education that will empower you to make savvy decisions about your books, that will help you evaluate your options and pick the best path through the sometimes confusing choices you have to make.

If you’re thinking about getting into self-publishing and want to know more about what’s involved and how it can work for you, check out the new video I just posted as part of a training series.

This one is called 8 Keys to Self-Publishing Success Today.

In this video you learn about the 8 Keys to Self-Publishing Success, and why it’s such an incredible time to be an author. This is meaty stuff, and it really gets me excited to think about all the possibilities open to writers these days.

I hope you’ll take a minute to check it out.

Here’s that link again:

I would be really interested in your reaction to the video and your thoughts on your own self-publishing goals. There’s a comment section under the video, so you can use that.

The longer I’m involved in indie publishing, the more clear it becomes to me that it’s going to be a significant part of the publishing world for some time to come.

One of the best things you can do for your career as an author-publisher is to ground yourself in the processes and strategies that will be so important to you as you continue to publish books.

Whether it’s this kind of training or some other kind, I urge you to take your own commitment to publishing seriously. Obviously, not everyone learns the same way or has the same learning objectives.

But in an industry undergoing such seismic change, it’s important for all of us to have a solid foundation from which to grow.
