Happy Labor Day (U.S.)

by Joel Friedlander on September 3, 2012 3 Comments

Well, it’s Labor Day here in the U.S., one of our national holidays when banks, government offices, schools and financial markets are closed. Labor Day also marks:

  • The unofficial end of the summer season, and
  • The beginning of the national political campaign.

Schools are back in session but off for the day, and we all tend to gather at friend’s and family’s houses for an end-of-summer barbecue. There are parades, parties and lots of sports events.

If you’re new here, I’d like to offer you a few links that you’ll find interesting:

  • 5 Favorite Fonts for Interior Book Design—Suggestions for your book fonts and a lengthy comment stream with ideas from a number of book designers.
  • The Top 10 Worst Self-Publishing Mistakes, Explained!—Practical ideas on how to publish better books.
  • Bookstore Distribution [Video]—A short video that explains the 3 things you need to get right to distribute your books through bookstores.

Have fun, and I’ll see you back here on Wednesday.

    Happy post-labor day! :)

BTW, the new Books/Tools/Training elements at the top are quite nice. I didn’t realize you had so many titles available. Found the “self -publishers companion” book on the list, for Kindle. Picked up a copy and have been enjoying reading it all day. I’m half way though and it’s well worth the price of admission.

Thanks Tracy, much appreciated. I’ve had a lot of these items “on the shelf” but they are hard to find, and that’s why I put in these new elements. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the book!

Happy holiday from a Canuck–we also are celebrating Labo(u)r Day here–beautiful weather–lovely breeze and sunny, hint of fall in the leaves on the maples in my yard but overall, a great day. Hope you enjoy your bar-b-q and visits with family and friends!

Why?
"Writers change the world one reader at a time. But you can't change the world with a book that's still on your hard drive or in a box under your bed. This blog exists to help you get that book into people's hands."
