Guest post by Shelley Hitz

I’m glad to have Shelley Hitz of Self-Publishing-Coach.com as a guest today as part of her Podcast Series. Today she’s discussing guest blogging. This is a great subject for anyone trying to establish a presence online.

By writing guest blogs or, as in Shelley’s case, recording podcasts, you can expose yourself and your ideas to a new audience. People who come in contact with your content may be motivated to find out more about you. It’s your responsibility to make sure your content is the best it can be, that it delivers real value for readers. After all, you may only have one shot.

Here’s Shelley’s podcast:

As an author, one book marketing strategy you can use to sell more books is guest blogging. You can even turn your guest blogging into a full-blown “virtual book tour” to get more exposure, build your fan base and increase your celebrity.

Any author can use guest blogging in their book marketing strategy because it’s affordable. Actually, it’s free. The only thing you’ll invest is your time. And your time is valuable.

Therefore, having a simple strategy for guest blogging can make your time so much more effective.

When you pursue guest blogging, you want to make sure you:

  • Research the best blogs to approach
  • Provide unique, quality content
  • Set up your blogging schedule
  • Communicate well with your hosts
  • Follow up in a timely manner

To find out more about guest blogging and develop your strategy, download Shelley’s free PDF report called, “Guest Blogging Success for Authors.”

    Joel,
Thanks so much for hosting me on my final day of my podcast series, “Guest Blogging Success.” My hope is that many authors will see the value in guest blogging or “Virtual Book Tours” as part of their book marketing strategy.

I know you do guest blogging and from what I have seen – you do it very well. Any tips you’ve learned from your experience with guest blogging?

As you know, there are many benefits – increased exposure, backlinks to your blog (which Google looks on highly), buzz on social media about your blog/book, building networking relationships, etc. And, it’s free (except for your time), forever (the post/links to your site will remain on the blog) and it’s fun (meeting tons of people, building relationships).

So, if any of your readers haven’t taken the guest blogging plunge yet, I encourage them to try it!

    ~Shelley

Why?
"Writers change the world one reader at a time. But you can't change the world with a book that's still on your hard drive or in a box under your bed. This blog exists to help you get that book into people's hands."
