Sundays are home to the This Week in the Blogs link posts, a curation exercise that’s proven very valuable over the years.

Today, something a little different.

Today is Super Sunday, and lots of people—especially here in San Francisco and in Baltimore—are distracted. Not a good day for a lot of reading in any event.

So instead, I’ve reached back to last week when Dan Blank posted an article about Seth Godin‘s recent Kickstarter program for The Icarus Deception.

With this unusual book launch, and the current mammoth launch Guy Kawasaki is running for APE: Author, Publisher, Entrepreneur, his new book on self-publishing, we have an usual opportunity to watch 2 very different authors walk their talk.

Both Godin and Kawasaki are masters of their craft, acknowledged social media superstars with millions of followers, and authors with strings of bestsellers behind them.

Although we can’t easily imitate authors who have 5,000,000 followers, there’s a lot to learn from both of them.

What I’m posting today is the video interview Dan did with Seth Godin after his article appeared.

The insights into publishing, marketing, branding, community building and finding your own true way in this short video are incredibly important for authors to think about.

I really hope you’ll take the time to watch this, it could well change the way you think about writing and publishing. And I’d love to know what you think. Here’s the video:
