Picnics, barbecues, parades and gatherings with family and friends are on the minds of many of us here in North America. It’s a long weekend here in Canada this weekend and in the USA next weekend as we celebrate Canada Day and the 4th of July respectively. Whether you’re in North America or reading this from afar, I hope you’re able to find some time to read this week’s selection of articles.

And, don’t forget that you have until midnight to submit your ebook cover to our e-Book Cover Design Awards contest for June.

Porter Anderson on Publishing Perspectives
Amazon Gets Bulk of Complaint in AAP Filing With US Trade Commission
“For years, many in the publishing industry of the United States and other parts of the world have wanted to see Amazon examined by American governmental regulators for potential anti-competitive practices.”

Anne R. Allen on Anne R. Allen’s Blog… with Ruth Harris
We’re all Bozos on this Bus: 10 Lessons from 10 Years of Blogging
“I seem to have missed my 10-year blogiversary! I posted my first attempt at blogging on Friday, March 13, 2009.”

Alastair Crombie on ALLI’s Self-Publishing Advice Center
Book Marketing from a Standing Start as an Indie Author
“Author member Alastair Crombie has just launched his first book and explains what book marketing from a standing start is like in the current market.”

Brian Jud on Nonfiction Authors Association
Create Multiple Sources Of Revenue
“It is difficult to make a living as an independent publisher if you view yourself as a purveyor of books through bookstores. When asked, “What do you do for a living?” you may respond, “I’m an author.” This is usually followed with, “But what do you do to earn money?””

Dan Wagstaff on The Casual Optimist
Book Covers of Note, June 2019
“Apparently it is June already. I’m pretty sure it’s a terrible mistake.”

Why?
"Writers change the world one reader at a time. But you can't change the world with a book that's still on your hard drive or in a box under your bed. This blog exists to help you get that book into people's hands."
