So did the groundhog see his shadow? That’s the big question for many people this Groundhog Day. Early spring or more winter? While you’re waiting to hear the news, why not take a look at these great articles.

Self-publishing Is Not The Minor Leagues “See, here’s the thing. Though acting as author-publisher is a viable choice, it’s one that retains a stigma — lessened, these days, but still a stigma carried by other writers, by those in publishing, by bloggers, and in some cases by readers. The air, suffused with an eggy stink.”

Connie Brentford on The Alliance of Independent Authors
How To Reach Readers With Social Search Techniques “I’m a digital nomad and connecting with my readers in person for readings, book clubs and signings has always been problematic as I spend most of my year travelling around non-English-speaking countries. While I’d hear from some of my readers by email, I was frustrated that Amazon was collecting the names and email addresses of my readers and I wasn’t. How could I connect with those readers?”

Jonathan Gunson on Bestseller Labs
The Doorway To Massive Readership Of Your Books “There is a doorway to every single fiction reader in the world, and there are MILLIONS of them. Question is, how do you persuade them to open their doors and buy your book?”

Nina Amir on How to Blog a Book
How to Start Your Blogged Book (or Any Book) Using a Mind Map
“Many people don’t write books because they simply don’t know how to start. They possess an idea for a book, but they don’t know what to do with it. They can’t imagine how they get from initial idea to finished manuscript. Maybe you fall into this category. No worries. There is a way to easily accomplish this feat.”

Lindsay Buroker on Lindsay Buroker
Ebook Pricing: What You Think Your Book Is Worth vs. The Point at Which It Will Make the Most Money “In the indie author world, there are few topics as hotly debated as that of ebook pricing. You don’t have to spend long on a self-publishing forum to hear all sorts of advice”

  1. Connie Brentford

Thanks for mentioning my article here, Joel. I’ve gotten some great feedback on it. Mainly, “I didn’t know you could do that!” :)

    • Joel Friedlander

Sure, Connie, I know your article will help lots of authors.

Hi Joel – Enjoy your weekly roundup, as usual. I noticed that the link to Nina’s post on “..Mind Map” is broken – I checked the original copy of the post I got through RSS, and that link is broken as well, and a search of her site for “mind map” yielded nothing. I wonder if she deleted it for some reason.

Michael, not sure what’s up with the link to Nina’s site but you could try this shortened link to the web cache for the article:
